Harps in Harmony concert to
benefit Haiti to be held March 7
Terra Community College Harp Ensemble, directed by Karen Westgate, will perform a concert at the Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Avenue, on Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m.
Local resident Judith Burchfield is a member of the Harp Ensemble from Terra Community College and they have volunteered to provide music for this concert. There will also be other performers including the Lakeside United Methodist Church choir, under the direction of Larry Pierce and soloist Joshua Twining.
During the event, Willy Sommervil will speak about the conditions that persist in Haiti and the needs that continue to plague them. A Lakeside United Methodist Church member, Sommervil is an immigrant from Haiti. He moved here to Lakeside about 20 years ago and is now a U.S. citizen. Sommervil has lots of members of his extended family that were in the earthquake, and has touched hearts with his stories. Sommervil has become an integral part of the community, and the church here in Lakeside and the entire Marblehead peninsula.
All funds collected in a free will offering during the concert will go directly to relief in Haiti.
