Berea College Chamber Singers to perform
at Firelands Presbyterian Church Feb. 27
The Berea College Chamber Singers will perform a concert of African-American spirituals, madrigals, Scandinavian music, and selections from opera and musical theater at Firelands Presbyterian Church, East Harbor Road, Port Clinton, on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. Vocal and instrumental solos will be included in the concert. This concert is presented by the Musical Arts Series at Firelands and is by Crown Battery and Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser.
The Berea College Chamber Singers are an accomplished group from a distinctive Kentucky college. Founded in 1855 as the first interracial and coeducational college in the south, Berea charges no tuition and admits only academically promising students, primarily from Appalachia, who have limited economic resources. The students work at least 10 hours per week in campus and service jobs, building on the college's 150 years of learning, labor and service.
Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. Student admission is free. A reception to meet the performers will follow the concert.
