Oak Harbor Rockets almost delay Eastwood Eagles flight

The Oak Harbor Rockets almost delayed the Eastwood Eagles taking home the victory, barely escaping with a 58-55 win in the Rocket gymnasium on Saturday January 30th.

The Rockets gave the Eagles all they could handle Saturday evening. The Eagles tied atop the SLL standings and winners of 8 of 12 games on the season towered over the Rockets in the height department with 6-5ers Clayton Ruch and Clay Roth (BGSU college bound) found themselves in a battle they didn't really expect.

Jake Scott on fire in the first quarter raining down three pointers kept the Rockets ahead on the scoreboard, 18-16. The Eagles would outscore the Rockets by six in the first quarter to take a 27-23 lead into the locker room at half time.

The Eagles would widen their lead to 45-37, only to watch the Rockets come storming back in the final stanza. Brandon Wasserman's three quarter court shot at the buzzer would sail off the mark.

Jake Scott would lead the Rockets with 16 points, while Wasserman would chip in 11.

Clayton Ruch would lead the Eagles and all scorers with 22.

The Rockets saw their overall record drop to 4 wins against 11 losses.

The Rockets JVs would turn in an excellent effort defeating their Eagles counterparts, 62-46. AJ Cecil would lead a trio of Rockets with 18 points while Greg Haar would have 13 and Phillip Bryant added 12. The Rocket JVs record stands at 7 wins 8 losses.
