Ruth and Charles Dewitz celebrated 50th wedding anniversary

Ruth Emma (Lau) and Charles Roland Dewitz of Oak Harbor recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

They were married on January 9, 1960 by Father Cyril Lauer at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Bono. They hosted a family dinner celebration at Catawba Island Club on December 26 (where Ruth's mother Edna Lau was in attendance) and then had dinner out with friends in Florida on January 9.

They are the parents of four children: Diane (Todd) Winke - Oak Harbor, Nancy (Michael) Beier - Clyde, Linda (Douglas) Haar - West Chester, David (Heather) Dewitz - Oak Harbor. They have ten grandchildren: Alissa, Erica, Andrea Winke; Mitchell, Anthony Beier; Emily, Alexandra Haar; Matthew, Nicholas, Noah Dewitz; and one great-granddaughter: Emma Reinhart. Chuck and Ruth are lifelong farmers who enjoy traveling and spending time with their family.

Ruth is retired from the banking industry. Chuck is retired from First Energy and also is a former Carroll Township trustee and Ottawa County Commissioner.
